Tennis Victoria is excited to announce that team nominations are now open for the 2014 Tennis Victoria Premier League (TVPL) season.
The 2013 TVPL competition was a huge success with the implementation of several key changes, which was well received by both competing clubs and players.
These changes included the offering of prize money, change in match format and team size, and Super Rounds playing all matches at one venue with all club licence holders given the opportunity to host one showcase round.
The men’s competition also saw the inclusion of a Country Allstars team importantly providing a competition pathway for country athletes to top level competition and showcasing of high level competition tennis to Country Victoria.
The 2014 TVPL season promises to continue to go from strength to strength with the competition provisionally scheduled to commence on Monday 10th March and conclude on Sunday 13th April, featuring 6 team licences and a 5 round competition.
The 2013 women’s champions Delahey Rec and men’s champions Kooyong Lawn TC will be looking to defend their titles in what promises to be an absorbing month of high quality tennis.
Tennis Victoria’s Competitions Manager Jeff Downes cannot wait for the TVPL season’s first serve “We are looking to consolidate the TVPL competition again in 2014 in the market place as the premium top level inter club competition. Last year players such as Viktoria Rajicic, Peter Luczak, James Lemke, Rubin Statham graced the courts of local tennis communities, and we are certainly looking forward to assembling another high quality field of players. The TVPL competition’s success is of vital importance to TV as it is a vital part of the competition pathway in the state”
