Tennis Victoria is excited to announce that team nominations for the 2014 Pennant season commencing on the 26th April, 2014 are now open.
Following the large uptake by clubs of the Club Incentive Scheme this year and increase in overall Pennant team numbers, Tennis Victoria is pleased to announce we will be again rewarding existing clubs for an increase on the 2013 team numbers and extending this offer to all clubs for the 2014 season.
Any extra teams registered above a club’s 2013 total team numbers will be accepted FREE of charge for the 2014 season.
Any new club that didn’t participate in the 2013 Pennant Competition will receive their first team free of charge and subsequent teams at half price.
Tennis Victoria’s Competitions Manager Jeff Downes is excited by the initiative “ The club incentive program provides all clubs with another significant reason to strongly promote participation in Pennant to its club members and importantly rewards clubs for increasing its team numbers. The creation and continued development of Pennant competition pathways at clubs is important for the future evolvement of the competition.”
At the completion of the 2013 Pennant season, Tennis Victoria invited feedback from clubs in a Discussion Paper on a number of key changes for the 2014 season. Following receipt and review of this feedback by the Pennant Committee, the Tennis Victoria Board of Management have also endorsed a number of key changes for next year.
Most notably these include for Men’s and Women’s Grade 1 only the ability for clubs to play one Wildcard player per round, a change in Sectional and Grade Finals order of play with 2 doubles rubbers to be played first followed by 4 singles rubbers (to ensure live doubles rubber results) and the higher seeded/placed team to have the rights to play their finals at their home courts.
