The Asia Pacific Tennis League Playoffs will commence on Monday 26 January at the Australian Open, with Victoria looking well placed to continue their dominance of the competition.
The ATL Playoffs will feature the winners of the four ATL Conferences held in December 2014 as well as teams from Japan, New Zealand and Pacific Oceania, with 110k prize money on offer across both the men’s and women’s competitions.
In 2013 the Sam Groth led Liston Seagulls won the coveted Men’s Playoff and in 2014 Olivia Rogowska led the Royal South Yarras to win the Women’s Playoff, highlighting the quality of the Victorian teams.
In 2015 Victoria is again primed for a chance at glory and will be well represented in the by 2014 ATL South East Conference Champions Kooyong Classics and Bayside Thunder in the men’s and women’s respectively.
The Kooyong Classics will be hard to beat and will be looking to improve on their fourth place finish in 2014 featuring quality players Greg Jones, John Peers and Andrew Whittington.
The Bayside Thunder are the team to beat and will be favourites to win the title with a line up that includes AO2015 women’s main draw players Olivia Rogowska, Arina Rodionova, Storm Sanders and Daria Gavrilova.
Due to the withdrawal of international teams the 2014 ATL South East Conference Runner Up teams Royal South Yarras (men’s) and MCC Stars (women’s) were also granted a place in the Playoffs and will be a real threat to the opposition.
