The stage is set for an epic weekend of the Tennis Victoria Premier League competition with finals spots up for grabs in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

Wins will be at a premium this weekend for clubs in both the men’s and women’s competitions. The team finishing first will earn the privilege of advancing straight to the Final next Sunday 19 April at Glen Iris Valley Rec TC while the teams finishing in second and third after this weekend will play off in a Semi Final next Friday 17th April for the opportunity to advance to the final.
The women’s competition final places will be enthralling as newcomers Beaumaris Lawn will look to keep top spot if they can win over the weekend against Royal South Yarra Lawn and MCC. Kooyong Lawn, Mornington and MCC however are looming and looking to announce themselves as serious contenders this weekend.
The men’s competition for Round 4 will commence at Royal South Yarra Lawn with the home team also looking to announce themselves as contenders in a must win match versus competition favorites Grace Park Hawthorn. Round 5 will travel to Bendigo for the Country All Stars Super Round which will provide the perfect setting for a potential historical moment in the competition with the Country All Stars well placed to secure a first time finals berth in front of their local fans. Part of the Bendigo Super Round will also feature the National Super 10’s and Super 12’s challenge day taking place through the morning. Reigning men’s champions Grace Park Hawthorn look well placed on top of the ladder, but the battle will certainly be on for semifinal berths with Kooyong Lawn TC, Royal South Yarra Lawn TC looking to upstage the Country All Stars quest for finals action.
Tennis Victoria’s Competitions Manager Jeff Downes is looking forward to the Bendigo Men’s Super Round, “The Country All Stars team is an important part of the competition as it provides a pathway for country players to higher level competitions. Now in their third year, the Country All Stars are exciting for the sport and competition and it is encouraging that they are certainly well and truly a live chance to secure a first time finals spot”
