Tennis Victoria today announced the finalists for the upcoming Victorian Tennis Awards to be presented at Tennis Victoria’s Championships Dinner, proudly supported by ANZ on Monday 29 June 2015 at the MCG. Held on the opening night of Wimbledon, it is Victorian tennis’ night of nights to celebrate our great sport and opportunity to reward the efforts of the Victorian tennis community. All finalists and guests will be treated to a night of great entertainment including special guest seven time Grand Slam winner, Evonne Goolagong Cawley.
The number and quality of nominations received this year was of a very high standard with many new finalists announced showing the strength of Victoria’s tennis community.
The major award of the evening, the Most Outstanding Club, Centre or Association will be decided between three clubs making their debut in this category and an association. Berwick Tennis Club, Mt Eliza Tennis Club, Sale Tennis Club who are new to this award are joined by Waverley Tennis who were also nominated in 2012.
St Mary’s Greensborough will be hoping to repeat their win last year in the Most Outstanding School category but will be challenged by Nichols Point Primary School and St Gregory’s The Great Primary School in Doncaster.
In the Junior Athlete of the Year categories, last year’s winners Destanee Aiava and Marc Polmans will be looking to go back to back again but will face strong competition from Jamiee Fourlis and Danielle McIntyre in the female award while Omar Jasika and Lucas Vuradin will challenge for the male award.
