The latest Tennis Victoria’s Regional Teams Event headed to Geelong at the weekend, with the Barwon region hosting the 2015 13/u girls Foundation Cup which was taken out by South West for the first time.
South West came up against Barwon in the final, with the two teams so evenly matched they drew 3-32.
After a 10 minute break, both doubles pairs went back on court for a 7 point tie break, with Barwon winning the no.1 doubles 7-5 and South West winning the no.2 doubles 7-3 meaning South West were crowned victors 12-10 on aggregate.
In the 3rd – 4th Playoff – Central Gippsland 5-33 def Central Highlands 1-19, and in the 5th – 6th Playoff – Loddon Campaspe 6-36 def East Gippsland 0-12. View the PDF results. Online round robin results are available on www.leagues.tennis.com.au.
The event, for 13/u girls from the 11 Victorian country regions, was played in a round robin format with ties consisting of two girls’ doubles and four singles rubbers involving all of the four players from each team.
Four players from the event will now be selected to represent Country Victoria at the Foundation Cup Interstate Challenge in Melbourne in January.
