Of the four Victorian teams in semifinal action today at the Asia-Pacific Tennis League Playoffs, three have progressed through to the final.
Men’s Final:
Kooyong Classics v Tennis Brisbane Chargers
Women’s Final:
Royal South Yarras v MCC Stars
The Royal South Yarras were too strong for the Brisbane Sharks winning 3-1 in the singles then taking both doubles matches to win 5-1. The MCC Stars had a tougher fight on their hands eventually defeating Japans Shimazdu by 2 sets (3 rubbers each).
The Kooyong Classics fought hard against the New Zealand Kauris winning 3-1 in the singles. Andrew Whittington and Marc Polmans then combined to take the 4th rubber in the doubles leading the Classics to a 4-2 win. They will meet the Tennis Brisbane Chargers who were too strong for the Royal South Yarras winning the singles 4-0. With a team consisting of Ben Mitchell, Maverick Banes and Gavin VanPeperzeel and John Millman likely to play the final, the Classics have a very tough battle on their hands.
