After five rounds of high quality tennis, Grace Park Hawthorn and Liston have booked themselves a finals berth when the 2016 Premier League concludes at Glen Iris Valley Rec Club this Saturday, 9 April at 1.00pm.

In the men’s competition, an undefeated Grace Park has proven to be the powerhouse team. Led by James Lemke and Daniel Nolan, the team cemented their place on top of the ladder with a 6 rubbers to 0 victory over the Country All Stars on Sunday at Bundoora. The win followed a close match against Kooyong on Saturday which saw the two teams tie on 3 rubbers each, with Grace Park winning on sets.

The team will now face the winner of Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club vs Dingley Tennis Club preliminary final this Thursday night at Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club at 5.00pm.

In the women’s competition, just three points separate the top two teams of Liston and Mornington with both teams on 4 wins a piece.

However a strong showing against MCC Tennis on Saturday and Royal South Yarra on Sunday secured Liston’s finals berth. Masa Jovanovic and Monika Rajicic paired to win their doubles rubber (6-1 6-0) against Royal South Yarra on Sunday before each winning their singles rubbers without dropping a set.

Mornington Tennis Centre will battle it out against MCC Tennis Section this Thursday night at 5.00pm.
