Meet the staff – Zoe Plastow

Name: Zoe Plastow

Title:  Participation Leader – Metro Melbourne

What is your role here at Tennis Victoria?

I am the Participation Leader for the Central Melbourne Region.

What is the best aspect about your role?

Being able to build relationships with clubs and work with them to help them to grow. It’s rewarding to see the clubs grow and to see people of all ages and abilities picking up a racquet and stepping out on court.

How long have you been involved in tennis and in what capacity?

I have been involved in tennis since I started playing when I was 11. I was coaching whist at University and have been at Tennis Victoria for four years. I started off in the Tennis Operations team and was involved with running some of Tennis Victoria’s Competitions and Tournaments. Last year I moved into the Participation team as a Participation Leader.

Who is your favourite tennis player?

Federer and Nadal are of course up there but I also admire how good Serena Williams is, and has been for such a long time. She has had a big influence on women’s tennis and has been great for the game.

Who has been the biggest influence in your tennis career – either playing or just being involved in the sport?

John Hampson would have to have been the biggest influence. He will hate me saying this but he was my coach since I started playing tennis and has become a good friend over the years.

Who would invite to a dinner party if it could be anyone in the world?

Channing Tatum, Leonardo DiCaprio, Blake Lively, Rihanna, Beyoncé.

What is something people wouldn’t know about you?

Ummmm nothing outrageous. I love fashion, I love to travel and everyone at TV would know I love my coffee.

Where has been your favourite place to travel?

A few years ago I went to Africa and did a Safari across Kenya and Tanzania. Something unusual, but something that I am so glad I that I did. It was definitely an eye opener and a place that I would love to go back to.

After your appearance with Daria Gavrilova for the Medibank Second Serve promotion, what does the future hold for Zoe Plastow? Watch the video here!

You’ll have to wait and see…
