Cowes’ Betty Malloy has been recognised by Tennis Victoria for her outstanding contribution to the Phillip Island Tennis Club.
Betty was presented with a Tennis Service Award late last month at the club’s yearly Biggest Morning Tea fundraising event.
Betty has been an integral part of the Phillip Island Tennis Club for decades, joining the committee as the Membership Secretary in 1984.
As part of her role as secretary, Betty runs the Thursday morning Ladies Social Tennis group which also includes arranging a quarterly birthday lunch with homemade cake and cards and the Christmas break-up party which includes a round robin tournament.
Each year Betty also organises for all club members to attend the Australian Open on the first Thursday of the Tournament.
Betty has also helped with the Tuesday Junior Tennis program which is held after school and is always keen to encourage young people to play tennis.
Betty has ensured the club remains engaged with Tennis Victoria, spending time learning and mastering the new My Tennis system and has been proactive in moving the Club’s membership online.
The Tennis Service Award recognises those who have demonstrated their contribution to the sport of tennis through devoted and significant service to any one or more of the State Tennis Associations’ affiliated tennis clubs and/or associations and/or member organisations.
