Last weekend saw the end to another successful 2016 Junior Pennant season with the finals for all grades played out across Melbourne.

The highlight of the finals came at Dendy Park in the Boys 16A where Bayside-Moorabbin and Eastern Region Tennis couldn’t be split after the regulation 6 rubbers with both teams tied on rubbers, sets and games.

The boys found themselves back out on court to play 2 doubles tie breaks to decide the winner. In the end, the Bayside-Moorabbin pairing of Jarrad Scott and Lachlan McAndrew clinched the victory with an 8-6 tie break win after team mates and brothers Wes Neylon and Tom Neylon won their respective tie break 7-4.

Along with this season’s champions, Tennis Victoria have also announced the winners of the 2016 Junior Pennant Player of the Year for all A grade age groups.  Alex Booker from Barwon Associations Group was awarded top honors in the Girls 16A while Jack Bruce-Smith from Bayside Moorabbin won the Boys 16A player of the year after a stellar season.
