The closing date for team nominations for the 2017 Tennis Victoria Pennant season is fast approaching and closes at midnight Tuesday March 7.
Pennant is Australia’s largest inter-club competition with 140 clubs participating in last year’s successful season. Pennant caters for a wide variety of player standards and has competition categories of Men’s, Women’s, Men’s Masters 45+ Doubles and Men’s and Women’s Open Doubles.
Tennis Victoria also has some exciting incentives for both 2016 clubs and all new clubs. For all 2016 clubs if they increase their 2016 team numbers they will go into the draw to win one of 3 exciting prizes that will benefit the club. A separate prize draw will also take place for all new clubs to Pennant this year (who enter a minimum 2 teams) to also have the chance to win 3 exciting prizes.
Prize Draw
- Wilson tennis balls to the value of $500
- Clubhouse BBQ voucher to the value of $400
- Table Tennis Table to the value of $300
Tennis Victoria Competitions Manager Jeff Downes is looking forward to the season ahead.
“Over the past few years we have not only been able to arrest a decline in team numbers, but stabalise and increase total team numbers and I am certainly hopeful of achieving this again for the 2017 season. Tennis Victoria Pennant is a wonderful competition with such rich history that defines tennis in metro Melbourne through the winter months and we certainly can’t wait for the first serve on the weekend of Saturday 22 April.
Club team nominations will close at midnight on Tuesday March 7 and provisional fixtures are to be released on Thursday 23 March.
