Tennis Victoria’s Future Leaders program was honoured at the annual Community Clubs Victoria (CCV) awards night in April.

Nominated for Best Youth Development program, Future Leaders continues to grow into an extremely rewarding initiative. The program is designed for Year 10 and 11 students and enables the next generation of volunteers to work closely with local tennis clubs in creating welcoming environments on and off the tennis court.

It aims to combine the next generation of volunteer with local clubs in order to establish a mutual benefit of assistance for clubs in addition to practical experience for the student.

Senior participation leader at Tennis Victoria, James Madder, believes the program is growing into something quite unique and hopes even more students can be exposed to the program.

“Being awarded CCV’s Best Youth Development Program is a credit to the program graduates who undertook and completed many great projects at local tennis clubs,” Madder said.

“In 2016, 50 participants from 39 Victorian tennis clubs participated in the program, with over 2,000 hours of volunteer work undertaken at local tennis clubs.

“The Future Leaders Program enables our next generation of volunteers to work closely with our local tennis clubs in creating welcoming environments on and off the tennis court.”

The night also saw Traralgon Tennis Association crowned Best Tennis Club, which is something the club was extremely excited about.

This result could only be achieved with a strong committee and dedicated members, which this club clearly possesses.

Tennis Victoria would like to extend its congratulations to the Traralgon Tennis Association and hopes it will continue its great work.
