The state’s highest level inter-club competition, Tennis Victoria Premier League, season will commence on Saturday, 11 November.
Both the men’s and women’s leagues will feature five rounds with the final to be played on Saturday, 2 December.
Tennis Victoria competitions manager, Jeff Downes, is looking forward to welcoming star talent to the state’s elite competition.
“The season schedule aims to best minimise clashes with the ITF Futures Pro Tour calendar, AMT Platinum tournaments, December Showdown and the 18’s Nationals,” Downes said.
Recognising the grassroots club nature of the League and the importance of connecting the competition to the local tennis community, Tennis Victoria has extended its Community Engagement Award to one winning club in the men’s and women’s competitions also this year
The award will see a men’s and women’s club rewarded with a $2,000 grant for being the most connected to their local tennis community throughout the competition.
“It is important that Tennis Victoria and our selected clubs engage their local tennis communities and we look forward to seeing what exciting initiatives they can come up with to create a real buzz at their home venue’s Super Rounds.”
2017/18 season clubs will battle for the $20,000 total prize money pool.
Following the Grace Park Hawthorn Club (men) and Liston (women) triumphs in December last year, the next Premier League season is set to be a hotly contested competition.
Team club nominations will close on Thursday, 5 October, with selected teams to be announced on Wednesday, 11 October.
