As the dust settles on a memorable semi-finals day of Tennis Victoria Premier League, the attention now switches to Saturday 2 December as the countdown to Grand Final day begins.
The typical Melbourne weather played havoc during the morning with showers and storms blanketing the city.
By late morning, staff and officials were able to service the courts and have them in pristine condition for play to begin on time. As the players filed in to begin practice, the clouds looked ominous and light rain started to fall.
However, play was able to continue and there was no threat of interruption as the sun started to come out. In a Tennis Victoria Premier League first, the decision was announced at the beginning of the season that all finals would be livestreamed, and proved a big hit.
On the streamed courts viewers were able to watch top-line matches including Destanee Aiava vs Jaimee Fourlis and Chris O’Connell vs Greg Jones, followed by some entertaining doubles.
The team results saw Kooyong Lawn (women) defeat MCC Glen Iris Valley (women), the winners to take on Liston. On the men’s side, Royal South Yarra Lawn (men) progressed through following a gutsy win over Kooyong Lawn (men) and they’ll tackle MCC Glen Iris Valley (men) in the decider.
Grand Final day is set to be hosted by MCC Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club with play to commence at 12:30pm. The livestream of the event will be available on the Tennis Victoria Facebook page and through the My Sport Live streaming site.
