The finalists for the Disability Sport and Recreation Awards for 2021 have been announced, and we have seen incredible representation and acknowledgement of tennis in Victoria.

The annual Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards recognise the accomplishments of people with disability; those who support them and the inclusive sport and recreation sector across the state.

Tennis finalists include wheelchair tennis player Sally Schwartz as finalist for the Marg Angel Junior Sportsperson of the Year. Sally was also a finalist for Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability at the 2021 Victorian Tennis Awards alongside Olivia Sayers, Riley Dumsday and Ryder Smith.

Fellow wheelchair tennis player Martyn Dunn has been named as a finalist for the My Sport Live Sportsperson of the Year after his Paralympic debut in Tokyo where he played in both the singles and doubles competition.

Vicky Lee of Slamin Tennis is a finalist for the Carbine Club Coach of the Year award. Vicky has cemented herself as an innovative, passionate, and inclusive coach, partnering with multiple schools and aiming to provide a tennis experience without barriers for many in the hard of hearing, autism spectrum and seniors communities.

She was a 2021 finalist for Tennis Victoria’s Coaching Excellence award, and Slamin Tennis’ Advantage Autism program was also a finalist for Most Outstanding Inclusion initiative.
