Get to know the 2022 Tennis Victoria Country Week Legends:
Karyn Fraser
Introduced to the tournament in the late 70s by her mum when the event was played at Kooyong, Karyn has Country Week in her blood. Karyn has had over 40 years of involvement with Country Week. Karyn had a break from her early Country Week playing days until 1995 but has always kept in touch with teams. Since then she doesn’t miss it.
Karyn organises a team each year, taking care of entry forms and accommodation and most importantly introducing new people to Country Week.
Heather Camm
Heather has been playing Country Week for more than 30 years since the event was held at the Junction Oval. An integral team member of Euroa Purple, Heather is known as one of the fairest players and kindest people to be around. She embodies the spirit of being a team member and a Country Week participant. Heather moved from Euroa to Balnarring after her family had grown up and Country Week is a yearly reunion for her and highlights her dedication to this event.
Kelvin Noonan
Kelvin has been a supporter of Country Week tennis for approximately 40 years, playing for Maryborough A Grade and more recently Mud Island B Special. The most memorable year would have been playing A Grade with his three sons – instilling the tradition of Country Week in the next generation. He hopes it will continue with his 7 grandchildren in the future. Kelvin is also a loyal figure at social events and has made lifelong friends. Known to his peers as the Godfather, he can now be called a legend.
Tracey Beaston & Ange Willett
Tracey & Ange are committed Country Week attendees. It’s their 21st celebration this year after not missing a year since 2001. For Ange, it is her yearly holiday away from the family and she’s a brilliant all-rounder on and off court. Tracey organises the accommodation, and even takes trips away to upcoming locations for research and plans the team outfits. They encourage others to take part in this great event, are great advocates for the sport and make tennis a joy for all in their team.
Daniel Gardner
Daniel Gardner has played Country Week A Grade since 1991, has never missed an event and has been known to postpone important family events so he can attend. He’s recruited team members to ensure Swan Hill can field an A Grade team, won a few premierships along the way and is well known for his fair and honest play.
Danny has been an integral part of the organising committee for Country Week in Swan Hill. As the Swan Hill Greenkeeper, his expertise with turf and grass management has helped produce the amazing courts – permanent and temporary here at Swan Hill for all to come and play on. Some of the best in the world.
