As the dust starts to settle on the news that proud Ngaragu woman and three time Grand Slam Champion Ash Barty has retired from tennis, one thing remains certain – the ‘Ash effect’ is real and most certainly far reaching.
Whilst the outpouring of love and respect continues to ripple across the globe the team at Tennis Australia are excited to announce the ‘Letters for Ash’ campaign – a unique opportunity for the tennis community to get involved in the celebration of Ash, a wonderful person both on and off the court.
Here’s how your club can get involved:
- Encourage your members to get creative in celebrating the career and retirement of Ash. Handwritten letters, poems, stories, and artwork are all welcome– the more creative the better!
- Take photos and videos of your members completing their ‘Letters for Ash’ activities and send them to [email protected]. Please ensure all members have the necessary photo and video consent before sharing.
- Have your club members label their work with the following:
- First name (only)
- Tennis club
- Collate your club’s work and send to the team at Tennis Australia by Monday 9 May 2022:
Ash Barty C/- Tennis Australia
Private Bag 6060
Richmond South, Vic 3121
If you are sending on behalf of junior members, please inform parents that their child’s work may be used in traditional and social media publications. If parents do not wish for their child’s work to be included, please have them email [email protected] by Monday 9 May 2022 to say they do not wish for their child’s work to be published.
Once the team at Tennis Australia have collected all the ‘Letters for Ash’ we will be passing onto Ash on behalf of everyone involved.
