Dear Victorian Tennis Community, 

Welcome to the JanuaryEdition of Tennis Victoria News, I hope you are all enjoying the summer of tennis and hope you enjoyed a great holiday period. 

A massive congratulations to those that have been successful on and off the court across the last month, we have had many of events delivered with strong participation.  

On Monday December 12, five Victorians were announced as winners at the Newcombe Medal (Australian Tennis Awards). Congratulations to Heath Davidson, Aitken Creek Primary School, Craig Tyzzer, Euroa Lawn Tennis Club and Jarrod Broadbent for winning their respective categories.  

Congratulations also to Victorians Stefani Webb (18/U Singles), Jenson Yokota-Ho (12/U Singles) and Daniel Jovanovski (14/U Singles & Doubles) for successful December Showdown campaigns last month at Melbourne Park. 

Over the weekend we experienced a fantastic 67th Inter-regional Country Championships at Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club. Congratulations to Loddon Campaspe for winning the championships after an amazing 554 matches in just three days! 

Looking ahead and we have the Kooyong Classic starting tomorrow, Tuesday January 10 through to Thursday January 12 in what will be a great showcase of our high quality tennis. To purchase tickets to the Kooyong Classic, please click here. 

Hume Tennis & Community Centre will also be hosting some great tennis across January, including a celebration of Wheelchair Tennis across 10 days. The event will start with the Victorian Open Wheelchair Open from January 10-14 followed by a come and try Wheelchair Tennis session on Sunday January 15 and the Melbourne Wheelchair Open from January 16-20. Another reminder to register your teams for Tennis Victoria’s 2023 Country Week at the Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club from Sunday February 12 – Friday February 17. Click here for more information and to register your team.  

 

It’s a huge summer of tennis and we’re looking forward to leveraging the interest  to grow participation across the state. We hope that you enjoy the summer of tennis both on and off court.
