Over the last few days, our Victorian’s have shown their dominance across the tournament.
Our Juniors have been on fire in the Doubles competitions, with Victorian’s featuring in the Junior Girls and Junior Boys Doubles Quarterfinals.
Roisin Gilheany and Stefani Webb dominated in their Junior Girls Doubles match winning 6-1 6-3. It was a dominant match from the get go, giving them confidence going into the Quarterfinals.
Stefani Webb also featured in the Junior Girls Singles, making it to the second round but narrowly falling short to Zhiyenbayeva. In a close match, Webb went down 4-6 6-4 4-6.
In a delayed match from yesterday to today, Cooper Errey competed in the Junior Boys Doubles with Marcus Schoeman. The pair came up against a tough match up but were too strong, winning 7-6 6-4.
The Doubles Quarterfinals will be played tomorrow, match time and court TBA.
Heath Davidson played his first match at the AO yesterday against second seeded Sam Schroder. Unfortunately he fell short 1-6 2-6 against a tough opponent.
Heath teamed up with Robert Shaw in the Quad Wheelchair Doubles and were up against the number one seeded Sam Schroder and Niels Vink. Schroder and Vink were too strong for the Aussie pair, winning 6-0 6-1.
In the Men’s Doubles, Victorian John Peers and Andreas Mies from Germany played their quarter-final match today at Kia Arena against eighth seeded Granollers and Zeballos.
In a 2 hour 24 minute match, Peers and Mies unfortunately weren’t strong enough for the eighth seeds, falling short 4-6 7-6 2-6.
Marc Polmans will be competing in today’s Semi Final in the Mixed Doubles with Olivia Gadecki at Rod Laver Arena. The match will take place after the Men’s Singles match between Rublev and Djokovic.
