Congratulations to Paul Proctor of the Ferntree Gully Tennis Club (FGTC) who is the Community Champion of the Month for January 2023.  

Paul is the President of FGTC and during Paul’s presidency he has initiated programs to educate the committee, coaches, and members about inclusive tennis. His proposal for an All Abilities Tennis Program, to have a genuinely inclusive club environment, inspired the committee. Paul set the vision and assigned tasks for each member to contribute to achieving it.  

Paul has brought together a group of individuals (committee and members) and created a tennis club that is making tremendous, positive change for people with disabilities.  

Paul has made a significant impact on Ferntree Gully Tennis Club, not only with the All Abilities program, but also instigating and co-ordinating the completion of the two new hard courts. He has worked tirelessly with the local council and contractors and obtained state and local Government grants.  

Paul commitment to the club is second to none; he is a role model for all members contributing to supporting the club from vacuuming the clubhouse, cleaning the courts and who has worked tirelessly in creating initiatives to support the players with and without disabilities to enjoy themselves while being physically and mentally active. 

Paul has created an inclusive tennis club where everyone is welcome, and his dedication will ensure a bright future for generations to come.
