9 February 2023 | Tennis Victoria

And that’s it for another Australian Open. The 2023 event was outstanding, and I commend our colleagues at Tennis Australia for putting on another fantastic global event. The Tennis Victoria team was heavily involved in the event across many different activations including Kids Tennis Day, Kids on Court, Cardio on Court, Daily Coin Toss, Coaches Networking Breakfasts, Women’s Tennis Foundation Breakfast, First Nations Day, Hot Shots Day, Infosys Future Leaders Day, Victorian Coaches Conference, All Abilities Day, Women and Girls Day, Australian Padel Championships, Pride Day and the MDF Cup!

There were some fantastic stories about our Victorian community at the Australian Open, if you haven’t already, visit our Tennis Victoria website to catch up on the latest news.

Prior to the Australian Open, the Tennis Victoria team supported the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club at the Care A2+ Kooyong Classic. A fantastic event saw some high quality players taking the opportunity to warm up for the Australian Open. And a big well done to the team at Hume Tennis and Community Centre for delivering the Victorian and Melbourne Wheelchair Tennis Opens throughout January with Victorian Heath Davidson being crowned the 2023 Victorian Wheelchair Open Quad Singles Championship.

As we look ahead now, February is due to be even bigger with many big Victorian events and leagues starting.

In case you missed it, we are really excited to announce that in its 140th year, Tennis Victoria Pennant welcomes back State Grade. Team registrations for all Grades are now open. Tennis Victoria Pennant is the largest inter-club competition in the Country, and we are proud of its tradition and can’t wait to see what the 2023 season brings.

Next week we’re off to Yarrawonga for Tennis Victoria Country Week, the world’s largest adult natural grass court tennis event. We have 205 teams and nearly 1300 players registered to visit the Yarrawonga Mulwala region. We have the 2023 Signature Victorian Grass court Championships taking place at Shepparton Lawn TC from 13 -17 February and back-to-back Women’s and Men’s Pro Tour events in Swan Hill from 19 February – 3 March.

And rounding out February is the Pat Cash Cup which will take place at Horsham Lawn Tennis Club on 25 & 26 February. This event is a pinnacle of our competitive play program, the State Championships of Victorian tennis and we can’t wait to see some fantastic tennis played over the weekend.

The Thriving Tennis Tour will run again in 2023 for the second year, the team in the final stages of confirming host venues and towns, keep an eye for further details to come shortly.

Don’t forget, as always, there are often many grant opportunities available to you on the ClubHouse page of our website. As always please continue to reach out to your Tennis Victoria representative if you require any support or information.

Until next time,
