Congratulations to the April 2023 Affiliate of the Month, Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club.
Resilience and a pursuit of greatness sums up the Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club. The club undertook an innovative and thorough pursuit of a new head coach late in 2022, promoting the job through multiple platforms and highlighting the the amazing facilities, community, and benefits of moving to Shepparton. The process secured Sam Tozer who took the opportunity to move from Queensland to Shep!
Not long after, the club was devastated by the floods in regional Victoria. Their plans to host Country Week were dismantled and a focus to recover the facility underway.
The club rallied and with the hard work of the curating team Ian, Julian, and John the courts were up and running for the summer of tennis. The club hosted the Victorian Grasscourt Championships in February attracting top players to the region.
All 22 grass courts were back in action for the Easter Tournament. Entries were a sell out and Shepparton local Olivia Quigley won the Cheryl Cottrell Open Women Singles. New coach Sam also provided a coaching session during the tournament for the next generation.
