22 May 2023 | Tennis Victoria

National Volunteer Week was an opportunity for Tennis Victoria to show gratitude to all our incredible volunteers in the tennis community across the state.

Play would not happen without all the passionate volunteers who give their time to making our sport thrive and grow.

A special congratulations to Dallas Newton of North Box Hill Tennis Club who was the Community Champion of the Month for April 2023! Engaged and always looking to improve efficiency, President Dallas Newton is leading the NBHTC through the implementation of a Strategic Plan, increased digital presence and a return to Tennis Victoria Pennant.

We also recognised our May 2023 Community Champion, Hugh Bergin. National Volunteer Week 2023 is celebrating the change makers, and this month’s Community Champion shows that you are never too young to try and make a change. Ten year-old Hugh came up with the idea to host Wagunyah Tennis Club’s Racquets Against Breast Cancer Tournament to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Well supported by the community, 50 participants, and nearly 100 attendees enjoyed the tournament which raised over $3000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It was such a success, it has now been scheduled as an annual event. Well done, Hugh!

Thank you again to all of our amazing volunteers within the Tennis Victoria Community.
