Congratulations to the May 2023 Affiliate of the Month, Officer Tennis Club.
The Officer TC aims to provide affordable active and healthy participation opportunities for the local community and strive to be an all-inclusive club. Driven by a group of dedicated committee members and volunteers they are working hard towards facility upgrades to make their club more accessible for all.
The club has been recognised by Good Sports as a Gold accredited club and has implemented a Mental Wellness plan with Monash Health.
The committee of the Officer TC have undertaken countless hours of training, workshops and professional development opportunities, including First Aid and CPR training thanks to a successful volunteer grant application. Committee members also attended the Thriving Tennis Tour in 2022 and were the lucky winners of the Sportsmans night with Chris Anstey. Chris attended the club on the evening of Tuesday 9 May which was well attended by club members of all ages – the clubhouse full. He shared stories and jumped out on court for a hit with the excited attendees.
The club is looking to the future, developing a volunteer handbook with Clubmap to assist the induction of new Committee members. They have also recently had three juniors participate in the Tennis Victoria Future Leaders program, contributing 120 hours of volunteering and hopefully becoming future leaders of the club.
Now with over 100 members, the growth at the club has been positive and they are not stopping there. The club is working on ensuring a pathway for players from Junior to Senior tennis to ensure they retain their members as they progress, and they are always ready to welcome new players. Wonderful things are happening at Officer TC!
