Tennis Victoria Board Director Vacancies

It is an exciting time for tennis in Victoria, and we have ambitious plans to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance.  We are transforming how we deliver tennis through our 2021-2024 Strategy, and our Purpose is to “create safe, inclusive and thriving Victorian tennis communities, enabling more people to play more often.”

Tennis Victoria is the State Sporting Organisation for Tennis in Victoria and a Member Association of Tennis Australia. It represents over 800 affiliate clubs, centres, associations, regions, and their members throughout Victoria.  With 1.5M Australians playing tennis, Tennis Victoria, and its staff of 50 people, play an integral part in managing strategic relationships in Victoria across the State Government, Local Government, Education Sector, and private entities.

As part of our ongoing strategic journey, we will have two Board Director Positions available for election at the October 2023 Annual General Meeting.  As active members of the Board, the Directors will support the Chair and Board to provide strategic direction and effective management oversight.  Click here to find out more about Tennis Victoria and our Strategy.

  • Wish to enhance and share their governance experience with a highly regarded sport that works closely with tennis organisations and communities across the state, State and Federal Governments, and Tennis Australia.

  • Demonstrate a proven successful professional or Director background in one or more of the following specific areas (*Definitions at the end of this document):
    • Government and Community
    • The Business of Sports Coaching

  • In 2023, one of the incumbent Elected Directors retires from the Board at the AGM, having reached his maximum term.  The other Elected position results from the incumbent choosing not to stand for re-election.
  • There are six to eight Board Meetings annually, every two/three months from mid-February, generally at 5:30 pm on a Wednesday at the Tennis Victoria Offices at AAMI Park or via videoconference. There is an expectation, based on skillset, that Board members may also be requested to serve on a sub-committee.
  • Director roles are voluntary, without remuneration.  Reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred within the role is available, subject to Tennis Victoria’s Director Expenses Policy.
