12 September 2023 | Tennis Victoria

Tennis Australia and all Member Associations & Movement Disorder Foundation (MDF) are working in partnership to ensure more children with a disability become active through participating in tennis.

The inaugural MDF tournament commenced on Friday 8 September between Ferntree Gully TC (Metro South East) and Slamin Tennis (Metro East) with the first event held at Ferntree Gully TC. The event had a fantastic turnout and players were on court for nearly 2 hours before heading inside the clubhouse for food and drinks. All participants played on a full sized tennis court with a green ball, partaking in a round robin singles and doubles event (non-competitive) up to 8 games. At the tournament’s conclusion everyone was awarded a participation certificate for their efforts on the evening.

A special thank you to Vicki Lee (Slamin Tennis) for her fantastic coordination of the event, supported by Prestige Tennis Coach, Mark Brodam. Stay tuned for more details about the second MDF tournament scheduled for January 2024 at Doncaster TC.

The MDF Cup day is scheduled for 8 October 2023 and will comprise of two event streams – tabloid, a series of modified activities and games for beginners, and competition, an intermediate red ball competition using modified equipment.

We look forward to updating you on our fantastic upcoming events in partnership with MDF.
