Congratulations to our finalists for the Victorian Player of the Year! The winner of the Victorian Player of the Year will be announced on Tuesday 17th October 2023 at the Victorian Tennis Awards.
The finalists are:
Heath Davidson
Currently ranked No. 5 in singles (Career High #3 Nov 2022) and No. 4 in Doubles heath has had an outstanding year on court. In singles he won the Belgian Open ITF 1 Series, and the Victorian Wheelchair Open ITF 1 Series. In Doubles he took home titles at the Belgian Open, Swiss Open, Seoul Korea Open, Daegu Open and Georgia Open. The highlight of the year was his achievement as finalist in both the Quad Singles and Quad Doubles at Wimbledon and a Finalist in the Quad Double at Roland Garros.
Jaimee Fourlis
Jaimee Fourlis reached a singles ranking of No. 148 during the nomination period. She won the ITF $25k Burnie and was Runner Up in the ITF/Tennis Europe $100k Weisbaden in singles. On the doubles court she won the ITF/Tennis Europe $100k Weisbaden and the ITF/Tennis Europe $25k Sibenik. Jaimee’s Grand Slam highlights included first round singles appearances at both the 2022 US Open and 2023 Australian Open.
Marc Polmans
Marc jumped 306 singles ranking placings in the nomination period finishing at 173 on 31 July 2023. He also moved dramatically in the doubles rankings from 475 to 171. In singles Marc won the ITF M25 Canberra and was a Runner Up at the Challenger 53k Sydney and the second ITF M25 Canberra. Marc’s Grand Slam highlights included playing Qualifying of all 4 Grand Slams within the nomination period.
Arina Rodionova
Arina’s singles ranking moved 21 places in the nomination period, finishing at 197 on 31 July 2023. She collected singles titles at the ITF/Tennis Europe $25k Nottingham 2, the ITF/Tennis Europe $25k Nottingham and ITF $25k Swan Hill. She was a Runner Up at the ITF/Tennis Europe $25k Cantanhede, Portugal and ITF/Tennis Europe $40k, Montemor-o-novo, Portugal. Her Grand Slam achievements included playing singles Qualifying at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
