On Saturday 18 November, Tennis Victoria President Jacqueline Pirone inducted the newest Tennis Victoria Life Member – player, administrator and coach – Warren Maher.
Warren has dedicated his life to tennis. On the professional playing tour Warren played all four Grand Slams, made the second round of Wimbledon in 1980 and reached career highs of #98 in Singles and #74 in Doubles.
He became a professional coach and both Donvale TC and Bulleen TC, was a State Team Coach and State Team Selector and named TCAV Coach of the Year.
Director and Manager of the Boroondara Tennis Centre, Chair of the Tennis Victoria Player Development Focus Group and a Tennis Victoria Board Director from 2008 – 2011 Warren contributed as much off court as on.
A successful State Grade Player for Donvale Tennis Club he was also a part of the Tennis Victoria Competitions Committee from 2015-2018.
Warren was presented with the award in front of his family, thanking them for their support across the journey and acknowledging the recognition as an unexpected honour and was very humbled by the accolade.
