Congratulations to Maddy McColl from Meredith Tennis Club who is the Community Champion of the Month for February 2024.

Maddy was recently recognised with the 2023 Community Impact Award at the Golden Plains Shire Council Community Awards. This award was to recognise Maddy’s work in starting up the Meredith Tennis Club again after 10 years of no operation.

From no junior sport for kids in Meredith, the tennis club has built over the past five years to having nine junior teams and up to 50 kids in free coaching sessions.

Maddy has been the driver of the club’s revitalisation, organising the social and junior competitions, coaching and has been a key influence with the Golden Plains Shire in the development of the Meredith Recreation Reserve.

With nearly 200 people in attendance at the club’s most recent presentation night, this is not just a success story for tennis but also the town of Meredith.
