2 August 2024 | Tennis Victoria

I imagine many of you, like me, are weary eyed at the moment as we come off the back of Wimbledon and now have our eyes glued to the Olympics in Paris. At the time of writing this, Victoria’s own John Peers is set to play in a Semi-final tonight with Matthew Ebden. Australians have been well represented in tennis in Paris. It has also been great to see some of the behind the scenes action from Daria Saville. If you haven’t had a chance to see her experience as an Olympian, give her a follow on Instagram.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of connecting with our Life Members for the annual Tennis Victoria Life Members Dinner. Thank you to everyone who attended. Our Life Members have dedicated so much to the sport but also have such a breadth of knowledge to share, it’s always wonderful to see them.

More recently, Tennis Victoria President Jacqui Pirone and I attended the Vicsport CEO and Chair Forum. We were provided with updates from the Australian Sports Commission, VicHealth and Sport and Recreation Victoria. We then heard from panels on the topics of Integrity and Governance, updates to HR Laws and ways for sport to be more inclusive and healthier.

Looking ahead, this is my last update as Interim CEO. I head up to Darwin in the coming weeks for the National Indigenous Tennis Carnival and then will be on Annual Leave.

Our new CEO Kim Kachel will be on board in the next month and will provide the CEO update in the September edition of The Service Line. I know you will all welcome him (back) to Victorian Tennis. If you missed Kim’s CEO announcement, you can catch up here.

When I return from Leave, I look forward to continuing to work with many of you to ensure tennis continues to thrive across Victoria in my role as Head of Tennis Development.

Don’t forget to reach out to your Tennis Development Officer or member of the Tennis Victoria team if you need assistance.
