Congratulations to Heatherwood School, winner of Tennis Victoria’s Most Outstanding School Award!
Led by Samantha Ditty, the tennis program at Heatherwood School has grown significantly, not just within the school but also across the broader Special School network in the South-East Metro area. Under Samantha’s leadership, students from Years 7-12 participate in tennis as part of their Physical Education curriculum and attend an annual interschool tennis gala day.
Samantha has been instrumental in building strong partnerships with local clubs to provide tailored tennis programs that meet the needs of all students. Through a combination of in-school activities and external clinics, these programs have empowered students and their families to pursue tennis opportunities outside of school. This initiative has been so successful that one of their students was selected for the Tennis Australia development squad.
We commend Heatherwood School for its exceptional integration of tennis into its school environment and for fostering a culture of participation and inclusion.
Congratulations as well to our finalists, Lighthouse Christian College and Rochester Primary School, for their outstanding efforts in promoting tennis within their schools and communities.
