Shepparton put on a great weekend of weather for the second Regional Team Event for 2024, it was almost perfect after the ‘Armageddon’ most of the teams drove through Friday to get to Shepparton for the event.
This regional event attracted over 130 players from 10 country regions entering teams in 10/u, 12/u, 14/u & Junior Open(18/u) events. Both boys and girls played as a mixed team in each age group where they played in pool rounds and finished with a play off match. All players played singles and mixed doubles over the weekend with everyone demonstrating an exemplary attitude and excellent sportsperson ship throughout the weekend.

The 14/u Grand final between Barwon & Loddon Campaspe, needs a special mention as it went right down to the wire and was in fact the last match to finish for the entire weekend. Loddon was leading 3 rubber to 2 going into the last mixed doubles and ended up 5-2 up in that mixed set. However, the Barwon team of Pearl Thompson and Paddy Moulton persisted and clawed back the next 5 games to win the set and the match. The final score ended with Barwon 3 rubbers 6 sets 43 games def Loddon Campaspe 3 rubber 4 sets 44 games. Another special individual mention to Willow Kelly from Loddon Campaspe who only dropped 2 games in her 5 singles matches over the weekend. We look forward to keenly watching her progression through the pathway of tennis onto state and national level events. Good luck Willow in all that comes your way.

Alicia Molik Cup-12&u mixed event with 2 boys and 2 girls at Kooyong Lawn TC on Saturday November 30 & December 1. Must be of age as of December 30.
Inter Regional Country Championships- 12/u,14/u,16/u,18/u,25/u,30-49,50+ and Open Events, Mount Prospect TA, Jan 3-5. Must be of age as of January 31.
