The 2024 VIC PWII, DHoH & Para-Standing Open wrapped up an incredible three days at Tennis World Albert Reserve, celebrating the efforts of some of our best athletes across various divisions.

Speaking on the occasion, Tennis Victoria’s Inclusion Lead Adam Watson, praised the efforts of everyone involved.

“The past three days have showcased the passion, resilience, and sportsmanship of all involved, with a special highlight on our Para-Standing classification—the largest in Victoria to date. A huge thank you goes out to our players, their families, and our dedicated officials and Tournament Referee Tony Warland. Congratulations to all our champions and finalists; your performances have inspired us all. We look forward to supporting you in future tournaments as we continue our commitment to fostering an inclusive tennis community across the state.”

Our winner of the Para-Standing Open Singles Division 1, Brett Hillier, was also very delighted with his win and the competition. Known in the community for his love for the sport, Brett is already excited for the next one. 

“It feels so special to be a part of this growing sport and to see so many new faces each event we attend. Para-standing tennis is more than hitting balls, it’s inclusive tennis for those who didn’t feel quite seen before now. This tournament was so well run, all the officials were caring and I’m excited to join next year.”
