Michael Falkenberg, a dedicated and well-respected member of the Wangaratta Lawn Tennis Croquet Pickleball Club, has been honoured with a Tennis Service Award for his exceptional service to the club and the broader tennis community in Northeast Victoria.
Joining the General Committee in 2014, Michael quickly became a key figure in the club’s operations, assuming the role of Secretary in 2015, a position he held for nearly a decade until 2024. Throughout his tenure, Michael demonstrated unwavering commitment to the club’s success, earning the trust and admiration of his fellow members. His professionalism and dedication were critical to securing multiple significant grants, which have greatly benefited the club over the years.
One of Michael’s standout contributions was his involvement in key club projects, including the implementation of the Book a Court system and the installation of lighting on six of the club’s grass courts. His hands-on approach and willingness to go above and beyond have ensured that the club remains well-managed, with a strong, welcoming culture for all its members.
Michael has also played a vital role in maintaining the club’s compliance with Federal and State Government regulations, as well as Tennis Victoria requirements. His meticulous attention to detail in updating policies has been crucial in keeping the club on track and up to date.
In addition to his administrative efforts, Michael has been a constant presence at club events, where his support has been invaluable. Outside of his official duties, Michael, an Orthopaedic Surgeon, has often provided medical assistance to players during club play and even educated committee members on defibrillator use.
This Tennis Service Award is a fitting recognition of Michael’s outstanding contribution to tennis and his tireless efforts in ensuring the continued success of the Wangaratta Lawn Tennis Croquet Pickleball Club. Congratulations, Michael!
