Tennis Victoria is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2025 Green Ball Series (GBS), an exciting initiative aimed at providing 10/u players with a clear and structured pathway into competitive tennis. Designed to inspire and develop the next generation of talent, GBS offers a unique opportunity for young players to compete in a fun and supportive environment while progressing toward regional, state, and national tournaments.
Green Ball Series is more than just a competition—it’s a statewide journey. Players will compete in eight local areas across Victoria, including Metro East, Metro West, Mornington Peninsula Region, Gippsland, South West, West, North East, and North West. Each player’s performance will contribute to their area-specific points race, with top players earning a place in their respective GBS Area Final.
The season culminates in October 2025 with the best players from across Regional and Metro Victoria battling it out at Melbourne Park to crown the inaugural Green Ball Champion. Along the way, the series serves as a pathway to the prestigious Tennis Australia Super 10s Trials, a program designed to identify and nurture the state’s most promising young talent.
What the Green Ball Series Offers
The Green Ball Series is structured to give players access to competitive match play while fostering their growth and skills.
- Round Robin Format: All tournaments include round-robin matches followed by elimination playoffs to ensure players gain valuable on-court experience
- Performance Tracking: Results contribute to local leaderboards, with points earned based on finishing positions
- Pathway Opportunities: The top-performing players from each area will progress through regional and metro championships, ultimately competing at the Tennis Victoria GBS State Finals
Tennis Victoria CEO, Kim Kachel highlighted the importance of the Green Ball Series, stating:
“Green Ball Series is an exciting step forward in providing 10/u players across Victoria with accessible and meaningful competitive opportunities. By linking local match play to state and national pathways, we’re giving young players the chance to dream big and reach their full potential. We’re proud to support the next generation of Victorian tennis talent.”
This new initiative reinforces Tennis Victoria’s commitment to creating inclusive, competitive pathways for all players.
