Euroa Housewives Season 1
For Mayra, Kelly, Mayja, Rowena and Sue (not pictured), Country Week is a completely new experience – one they jumped at after hearing stories from their clubmates who had played for years.
“Our team decided to play Country Week this year after hearing all the great stories from others at our club who played last year and have played for many years,” said Mayra Walsh. “It just sounded like so much fun, we decided to get organised and see what it is all about.”
Unlike many long-standing teams, The Real Housewives of Euroa were formed specifically for this event. A mix of players from Euroa Lawn Tennis Club and Strathbogie Tennis Club, they usually compete against each other in their local Saturday afternoon competition. But this week, they’re teammates, learning each other’s strengths and embracing the team format.
That’s the beauty of the tournament – while there are long-standing rivalries and familiar faces year after year, there’s always room for new teams to join in, experience the excitement, and become part of the Country Week community. And this team’s first season is off to a flying start – currently sitting on top of the ladder in their section.
“This is the first tournament we’ve played in that operates around teams instead of just straight singles or doubles,” Mayra shared. “The team aspect is really fun and adds a different element of strategy that you don’t get in other tournaments.”
And as for their name? A bit of humour mixed with a reality TV twist. “Kelly, our captain, came up with it. We’re like the antidote to the fake reality show The Real Housewives. We represent really real reality – real people. And with so many spin-offs of that show, why not have a Euroa version!?”
Now, just days into their debut, they’re already feeling at home. “So far, we’ve loved Country Week. It’s really busy, but the atmosphere is fantastic. We’re really looking forward to getting onto the courts today.”
Though they’re new to the tournament, it won’t be their last time here. “In terms of a new tradition… let’s just say we already have a team together for Shepparton next year, including some new Euroa housewives,” Mayra hinted.
For The Real Housewives of Euroa, this is just the beginning. And for others considering giving Country Week a go, follow Euroa’s lead – jump in, get a team together, and experience it for yourself.
Stay tuned for entries opening for Country Week 2026 in Shepparton.
