7 March 2025 | Tennis Victoria

The 2025 Victorian Intellectual Disability and Autism (IDA) and Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHOH) Open took place from 28 February to Sunday 2 March at Tennis World Albert Reserve. The Open brought together a total of 51 competitors, for a weekend of intense and high-quality tennis.
The event saw thrilling competition across all matches, with a number of close matches showcasing the depth of talent on the court. One of the standout moments came in the IDA Men’s Singles Tier 1 event, where top seed Archie Graham fought hard but ultimately fell in a tiebreaker to eventual champion Hayden Ballard. In the IDA Women’s Doubles we saw local Victorian Carla Lenarduzzi team up with Kelly Wren (NSW) to claim first place over Queenslanders Chloe Dunn and Lana Sax.
Among the entrants were 13 DHoH players, including seven juniors—several of whom were competing in their first DHoH tournament. The Men’s Doubles featured a unique family moment, where father and son duo Justin and Ryder Smith teamed up to claim victory. Their strong teamwork and determination saw them overcome tough competition to take home the title.
With incredible performances from experienced players and newcomers alike, the tournament was a great success, highlighting the growing strength of the pathways for players with disabilities.
