Congratulations to Mary Dow from Sorrento Tennis Club, our Community Champion of the Month for March!

Mary embodies the true spirit of the community champion award. Since stepping into the role of President in the last few years, she has been a key driving force behind numerous initiatives that have strengthened the club and also the wider tennis community in the Sorrento area.

Her leadership has been vital in advocating for improved lighting at the club, working closely with council and local councillors to see the project through. She also played a major role in the appointment of a new coach, collaborating alongside another local Mornington Peninsula club, Boneo Tennis Club, to ensure the best fit for the community. Additionally, Mary has championed new lease agreements within the council area, led fundraising efforts for upcoming court surface renewals, and worked closely with local associations to create a thriving tennis environment.

Despite facing various challenges and setbacks, Mary remains a relentless advocate for the sport. Her passion extends beyond tennis, as she is also deeply committed to addressing the environmental impact of the club and its sporting facilities on the area. Under her leadership, Sorrento Tennis Club has strengthened its relationships with both the local council and Tennis Victoria, ensuring a bright future for tennis in the region.
