Green Ball Series

Tennis Victoria is excited to announce the introduction of a Green Ball Series (GBS) for 10/u players across the Victorian tournament environment in 2025. The Green Ball Series will provide the necessary first steps for 10/u players to start their competitive play journey within a local structured tournament environment.

Expressions of interest (EOI) to run a GBS event in 2025 are open from Wednesday 18 September until Friday 11 October. Using the EOI forms, Tennis Victoria will create a holistic calendar which provides opportunities for all providers and players.

What is Green Ball Series

Green Ball Series (GBS) is an introductory tournament series designed to introduce players into the junior tournament landscape for 10/u players. In 2025, Clubs, Associations, and Coaches across Victoria will have the chance to host GBS events as part of Tennis Victoria’s Junior Tour J250/125, Junior Development Series (JDS), or other junior community tournaments. GBS will have a consistent delivery, providing a standardised approach and opportunity for 10/u players to participate in competitive matches. All tournaments will contribute to a player’s Colourball rating.

Held across eight Metro / Regional areas, players will be provided the opportunity to compete for GBS points throughout the year, for the chance to compete at their specific GBS Metro / Regional Championship, and the 2025 GBS State Finals. GBS will also be utilised as the core pathway for Super 10s selection to trial for 2025.

All GBS events will be round robin, with an elimination playoff for finals. All scoring will be 1 tie-break set (adv) with a 7-point tiebreaker at 6-6. Only single’s results from GBS will go towards each localised leaderboard.

Pathway for 10/u

The Green Ball Series will provide 10/u players with the opportunity to progress from their own localised area to state level representation. Players will receive points based on their finishing position within each tournament, contributing to their localised leaderboard.

At the conclusion of all GBS associated tournaments, the top 16 Regional and top 32 Metro players on their localised leaderboard will be invited to compete at their applicable GBS Metro / Regional Championships.

Following the completion of the GBS Metro and Regional Championships, the top 8 Metro and top 2 Regional players from each region will represent their area at the Tennis Victoria GBS State Finals.

  • Localised GBS Tournaments
  • Metro / Regional GBS Championship in September 2025
  • Tennis Vic GBS State Finals in October 2025

Super 10s

We are thrilled to announce that the Green Ball Series will also form part of the key pathway for 10/u players to be invited to Super 10s trials in 2025. Tennis Vic and Tennis Australia together will utilise the players points from their geographical area’s GBS leaderboard, to invite the top regional and metro players to compete in Super 10s trials.

This new pathway will provide the opportunity for players across Victoria to be invited to participate in Super 10s trials.
