After an exciting week and exceptional weather in Kalgoorlie, the Gold Fields St Ives Tennis International came to a pivotal finale.

WA strengths (1) Casey Dellacqua and (4) Brydan Klein took out the Women’s and Men’s titles respectively to give the Pro Tour a Western waveoff as the tour leaves WA for Port Pirie in South Australia this weekend.

In the Men’s Final, (4) Brydan Klein (Rockingham) fought back from 3-5 down in the first set to defeat Queensland’s (1) Ben Mitchell 7-5 6-3. Klein dominated the match, not allowing Mitchell to enter let alone control the match. The fiery crowd favourite rose to the occasion and displayed an animated performance, securing the match in straight sets.

“I was wrapped to have a win at Kalgoorlie. I haven’t been well and wasn’t 100% whether I would play or not. Ben played well and he’s a fierce competitor so very pleased with the way I played.” Brydan Klein said after his match.

Casey Dellacqua came into the tournament as the number one seed, the first time she has held the top seed in the Pro Tour this year. Dellacqua cruised past fellow hitting partner Olivia Rogowska in the Cliffs Esperance Tennis International Final one week prior, the WA starlet was hungry to claim the 4th title in as many matches.

Dellacqua  was forced to conquer fellow West Australian and friend, Bojana Bobusic 6-2 6-0 in the Semi-Finals before disposing of Sydney’s Monique Adamczak 6-2 6-2 in the final.

“I felt like I’ve been playing really well the past few weeks. The more hitting I do, the easier I sink into my shot so I’m looking forward to having a go at winning my 5th title in a row” Dellacqua said after the game.

It’s great to have a tournament in your home state, the crowds are always great and I get to have some downtime with my family and friends”.
