The summer holidays has seen the commencement of grass court tennis for Tennis West’s Academy players. Most players will be playing back-to-back tournaments commencing at Robertson Park in mid-December and finishing in Midland in late January.
To dust of the cobwebs after a small Christmas break, 20 squad members took part in a 4-day camp at Tennis West. The main focus of the camp was preparing the players for the upcoming tournaments on grass. As part of the camp the players were lucky enough to attend the Women in Tennis “Legends Brunch” where Pat Cash gave some valuable insight into life on the tour and the hard work that is required to become a grand slam champion. Jack Lyttle and Scott Jones (pictured above with Jessica Moore) we called up on stage to take part in an interview conducted by channel 9 sport presenter Peter Vlahos. Both boys handled themselves very well in front of a large crowd.
Camp 2 begins on Monday 16 January for the players, then it is off to Busselton and then back to Midland. Preparations for the Mildura National Grass Court Championships have already begun. Well done to all players as results in all of the tournaments so far have been fantastic.
