WA’s Bojana Bobusic today moved easily through to the Quarter Finals of the $25,000 McDonald’s Burnie International after defeating New South Whales Emelyn Starr 6-3 6-3.

The number 7 seed sandgroper will now battle Monique Adamczak (NSW) to advance to the semi finals.

Bobusic will be looking for revenge after Adamczak knocked her out of the Traralgon International in November last year.

Bobusic, who has had a stellar past 13 months shooting up her ranking from a 2010 season ending 596 to todays career high of 225 and Australian Ranking of number 9. Tennis Australia granted the thriving West Aussie a wildcard into this year’s Australian Open. She pulled strong competition, up against German starlet Angelique Kerber. Boibusic put up a good fight against her much higher ranked opponant, but was edged out in straight sets.

Bobusic evidently took alot from the experience stating “It could have gone either way and I’ve still got a lot to work on, but hopefully I’ll be back next year to give it another crack. I didn’t get blown off the court today and that’s a good thing because I know I can match up with these girls.

“You can’t buy being out there and having a lot of people support you, it just makes you more hungry to get back out there to try and make another slam.”
