Name: Vuk Velickovic

D.O.B: 26/08/1995

Sixteen year old Vuk Velickovic is starting to make a name for himself throughout the Western Australian community. The Serbian born youngster began tennis when he was just 3 years of age and started competing at the tender age of six. Here Vuk was ranked the highest Serbian player for his age group before shifting to Australia at age 9.

Velickovic is currently ranked number one in the state and number 8 throughout Australia for his age group (1995). Transitioning over to the Men’s Circuit Velickovic has had some promising results including reaching the Quarterfinals of the State Tennis Centre AMT and finishing 5th in the boys 16’s Nationals which has helped to improve his climbing ranking.

On top of competing at various junior and open tournaments throughout the nation, Velickovic also battles it out for interclub glory – competing in pennants for UWA TC and also contended the inaugural National Tennis League representing ‘Macstiobhard’ Blue Gum Park TC.

No one can question Vuk’s dedication, commitment and love for the great game with the teenager hoping to extend his tennis career hype, considering a move to an American College to be exposed to the incredible facilities and opportunity the state’s has to offer.

A healthy balance is however very important to Vuk; who is currently harmonizing his tennis commitments, year 12 studies, playing soccer and basketball while keeping his social life in check.  

In the meantime however, the young tennis star will shift to Canning College to allow a more flexible timetable in the hope to elevate his tennis training to 3 hours a day.

With fellow Serbian Novak Djokovic taking out the Australian Open just last month, Velickovic is looking forward to the challenge of following in Djokovic’s footsteps in not only claiming the Australian Open title but the number one status as well.
