Over the Easter holidays a group of 10 students from John Forrest Secondary College’s Specialist Tennis Program, and their coach, John Campbell, took an 8 day trip to Beijing to take part in the China Stars International Friendly Games.

250 students from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and China took part, the largest number of participants since the games started.  John Forrest was the only Public School present at the games.  The students each played 5 matches against Chinese teams and were able to play at the National Tennis Centre at the Olympic Venue.

Alex Downey didn’t lose a match and the girls played some of the top Chinese players.  The trip also included great cultural visits to The Great Wall, The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, The Summer Palace, The Temple of Heaven and of course shopping in the markets.
