The 2012 Wimbledon Championships will see nine Australian players contest the main draw with world No.5, reigning US Open champion and recent Roland Garros semifinalist Sam Stosur leading the way.

World No.27 Bernard Tomic will hope to repeat his sterling performance last year when he was the youngest player to reach the quarterfinals since Boris Becker in 1986.

Lletyon Hewitt has been awarded a wildcard as has 16-year-old Ashleigh Barty who took out the junior title in 2011 and won an ITF Pro Circuit event in Nottingham, Great Britain, yesterday.

They will be joined by [75] Matthew Ebden, [82] Marinko Matosevic, [ [75] Jarmila Gajdosova, [107] Casey Dellacqua and [133] Anastasia Rodionova.

Fun Fact:  It is expected that visitors at this year’s tournament will consume more than 28,000kg of strawberries accompanied by over 7,000 litres of fresh cream. That’s more than 8,000 punnets per day!
