Both WA hopes have fallen in the opening round of Wimbledon with Casey Dellacqua going down to French ninth seed Marion Bartoli 6-2 6-4. Matt Ebden took it to 4 sets but conceded against heavy hitter Benoit Paire (FRA) 6-1, 6-3, 6-7(1), 6-3.

Sam Stosur was the only Australian to make it through to the 2nd round, but made a shock exit after going down to No. 72 Arantxa Rus in 3 sets 6-2, 0-6, 4-6.

With all Aussie singles hopes done and dusted in the Open Singles, attention now shifts to South Australian Luke Saville who is the number 1 seed in the Junior Boys Singles.
