Add excitement to your Australian Open experience and support your WA team.
Watch the final of the Asia-Pacific Tennis League. It’s fast, it’s exciting and doesn’t even stop for a “let”.
“It’s fun! We all get into this sport in the first place because we enjoy playing it. Often travelling all year can be a long grind… every player I know including the very top players in the competition loved being a part of it and representing a club with pride and passion.”
“The abbreviated scoring and play format creates a tension from the very first point and makes for more exciting competition than traditional play.”
In 2012 Tennis Australia and the Member Associations designed and delivered the inaugural Asia-Pacific Tennis League (ATL). Five Conferences were hosted around the nation with the men’s and women’s winner earning the right to compete at the Australian Open. A significant investment was made by Tennis Australia in order to subsidise player payments and provide prize money at both the conference finals and national finals in Melbourne during the Australian Open. Furthermore, Tennis West also invested significantly in the operational costs of the league and / or teams to ensure that the inaugural ATL was considered a success.
The 2013 ATL Finals to be played at the Australian Open we will host 5 conference winners in the men’s and women’s ATL final and 3 teams from the Asia-Pacific region. These teams are ATP Sydney and the Steelers from NSW, the Chargers and Shaw Park Sharks from Queensland, the Liston Seagulls and Kooyong Classics from Victoria and the Glenlea Gators and Flagstaff freighters from SA. Western Australia will be ably represented by the two Giants teams, sponsored by John Hilton and Greenwich Equities.
