Funding of $4.55 million is available under the Building Multicultural Communities Program and the Multicultural Arts and Festivals Grants. The aim of the BMCP is to provide one-off funding to support ethno-specific and community organisations by improving infrastructure that creates meeting places and enhances social cohesion.

Building Multicultural Communities Program

Funding is available under two streams:

Stream One: $1,000 and $10,000 for non-fixed infrastructure and equipment projects; and
Stream Two: up to $150,000 for capital works and fixed infrastructure programs.

To be eligible for funding, organisations must be incorporated, not-for-profit organisations e.g. non-profit organisations, service clubs, faith groups, art organisations, sporting bodies, community organisations, youth organisations, local government authorities.

Multicultural Arts and Festivals Grants      

This program provides up to $5,000 to community groups and organisations to fund multicultural arts and festivals projects such as dance and food festivals, cultural conferences and art exhibitions.

Funds will be provided to Australian incorporated, not-for-profit organisations including schools (government school applicants need not be incorporated), non-profit organisations, service clubs, faith groups, art organisations, sporting bodies, community organisations, youth organisations, local government authorities and universities and colleges of education.

Applications for grants opened at 9am Friday 31 May 2013 and close at 5pm Australian Eastern Standard Time on Friday 28 June 2013.  Funding for this program is limited so it is strongly encouraged that organisations submit their applications as soon as possible.
