My name is Laura Bugg. I am fresh from the UK and have recently been appointed as Coach and Talent Development Manager for WA . Prior to taking this role I worked for The Lawn Tennis Association as a Talent and Performance Coordinator for six years which involved identifying, selecting and developing some of the best 12 & under national players in the UK. The role also involved running and tutoring coach education workshops and courses.  Earlier in my career I worked at a High Performance Tennis Centre for 10 years where I coached and ran the strength and conditioning programmes for elite juniors from the ages of 8-20 years.

My new role as Coach & Talent Development Manager for WA will be to work closely with the Talent Development Coaches. These coaches are working with some of the best 12and under athletes in WA.  I am looking forward to coordinating and delivering Tennis Australia’s coach education courses and workshops and hopefully I will get to meet many new and passionate coaches who are passionate about developing players through the MLC Tennis Hot Shots programs.

I am very impressed by the Super 10’s competition which is happening all over Australia. I think it is a great opportunity for young athletes, as it involves the best 10 and under children competing against each other in a fun, competitive and enjoyable atmosphere.  Super 10’s is currently in its 3rd week in WA with over 35 children taking part. I hope to see some of the stronger players from Super 10’s at regional & national camps and competitions in the future.
